Huwelied Ovation SA profile image

SA's most versatile function band.

Singers and multi-instrumentalists Corné & Heidi Dannhauser, playing 7 instruments between the two of
them – violin, saxophone, trumpet, solo bass guitar, acoustic- & electric guitar, and double bass – form
the core of SA’s most versatile function band.

‘Brilli-bloody-ent!’ ‘Winning recipe.’ ‘Top-notch.’ ‘Unforgettable, awesome, breath-taking, goosebump-evening.’ ‘You move our hearts’ strings!’ This is how audiences describe this
married singing couple with their original, fresh, own Afrikaans music.

Yes, together as Huwelied, Corné and Heidi Dannhauser are an unforgettable experience. With a noticable link between them and meaningful lyrics they take audiences on a journey
through various emotions, energies and changes in musical styles. After many years in the entertainment industry they interact with audiences in an extremely relaxed way that allows
people to enjoy the ride, whether they’re listening or dancing.

They both sing and harmonize together, while Corné accompanies them on acoustic or electric guitar and Heidi adds   to the musical mix with the violin or saxophone, whether they’re playing with or without backing tracks. (Their acoustic format is known as Huwelied Akoesties). On the whole their musical style could be described as new country with influences from rock, pop, folk and blues.

If you’re partial to easy-listening music with good lyrics that at times make your feet itch, this is the singing couple for you. With their family-friendly content, they’re a fresh breeze
in the entertainment environment. (They’re also available with a mixture of originals and covers.)

Where do they come from?

At only 19 Heidi was the Concert Master (on violin) for the Reserve National Youth Symphony Orchestra. During her late 20’s she took up the saxophone for her role as ‘Mrs Santiago’ for the State Theatre production ‘The Buddy Holly Story’. As a singer she went through many genres on the opera stage, musicals, jazz, rock festivals and now new country. She has been named by Nataniël in the ‘Sarie’ magazine as one of SA’s top 5 singers (his ‘Big Five’). As an actress she was the female lead for ‘Liefde en Oorlog’ and shared the stage with ‘heavies’ like At Botha and Joseph Clarke, among others. She is a seasoned entertainer with more than 3 decades in the entertainment industry.

Corné is also a multi-instrumentalist (bass guitar, trumpet, acoustic and electric guitar, double bass) with an impressive history as performing artist, song writer and musical director. To name but a few he was in the Royal Albert Hall with Nataniël, toured Africa with PJ Powers, went to Shanghai with Lili Feng, played in the Heartland with Robbie Wessels, in Pretoria with Valiant Swart, recorded SAMA winners with Coenie de Villiers, and was musical director for international star, Stef Bos. Corné is the creative power behind Huwelied.

“If your nap is more important today than listening to Huwelied, it is your loss. Huwelied showed true artistry today. Corné’s lyrics are a testament to his brilliant thinking, evoking thought and emotion. Refreshingly different and diverse.”

“Heidi and Corné Dannhauser, are professional in their approach to every performance. They have an
excellent connection with their audience. We highly recommend them for any performance they might be approached to do.”
